AASMA AZIZ SAHOTRA
She moved from Pakistan to Salem Massachusetts for school and became a living and breathing testimony of the power of education. She can be described as a goal driven, highly educated, and determined young woman. She graduated with her first Masters degree in Political Science and decided to pursue a second Masters degree in Social Work. Studying social work in the US placed Aasma right where she wanted to be in fulfilling her life goal – education for all girls.
Aasma has one story to tell and in her first speaking appearance organized by Salem state University, Aasma told her story of perseverance and vowed to make sure many women know that their dream of an education is valid. Aasma founded One Little Light for that same purpose. She hopes to encourage young and old Pakistani women to live the best life they can. Education and the right to a comfortable life whether poor or rich, Muslim or Christian, are human rights that will no longer be swept under the rug for girls. In her time, Aasma wants to be the force of change. Her story of her educational struggles has received a lot of recognition locally and internationally. She has been featured in local TV Channels, magazines and News papers in the US and Pakistan. She also started Aasma’s Dream business to give women that opportunity for a better life. Each woman has a story, and with Aasma’s Dream's help, their story has changed from pain and struggle to a story of hope! -Founder One Little Light |
